There can be many ways in which one gives something back to his alma mater. This 2008 graduate from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A) wants those at the campus to drink organic juices.
By the end of July, an organic juice bar, called 'Joos' will be operating on the old campus of the institute. The juice bar on the campus will be an extension of the outlet, 'Joos', set up by IIM-A graduates in the city.
Talking about the bar, IIM-A graduate Siddharth Jaiswal, the man behind the project, said, "I have been keen to spread awareness about organic food and products and make them popular among the youth. This outlet on the campus will help me fulfil my aspiration." About the awareness and demand of organic food among the youths in the city, Jaiswal said, "The awareness level has gone up. Around 50% of the customers in our 'Joos' restaurant have been youngsters."
By using wood, mainly bamboo, an obvious effort has been made to keep the place eco-friendly. Jaiswal said, "We have decided to use only biodegradable materials as far as possible for both our bars."
The bar on IIM-A campus will offer a range of juices, salads and sandwiches made of organic and medicinal plants. Jaiswal said, "Apart from salads and sandwiches, we will have about 69 different types of juices."
"We will also introduce some new drinks made of medicinal plants such as Ashwagandha, Brahmi, Shatavari and Bhuiaamla, all organic," he said.
The students have shown positive response to Joos bar which inspired Jaiswal to come up with one on the IIM-A campus. Now he is planning to set up similar bars on the campuses of other institutes in the city. He said, "I am still in talks with various institutes in the city and it will take some more time."
