The longest heat wave of this season, the sixth, that struck the state on May 17, finally subsided on Wednesday after prompting rough wind circulation across the state. Due to the prolonged heat and impact of strong westerly winds, scattered dust storms occurred at a few places in Gujarat, including Ahmedabad on
Wednesday.

Sources from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Gujarat said, "Haze due to dust-raising winds will continue for the next two days in Ahmedabad and other few regions. Due to extreme heat, air becomes hotter and lighter and moves up, creating a low centre which results in scattered dust storms."

The temperatures across state came down. Bhavnagar was the hottest place in Gujarat at  43.6 degree Celsius on Wednesday. The heat wave conditions have normalised in the state, bringing temperatures down by a few degrees. Ahmedabad remained the second hottest place in the state with a maximum temperature of 43.3 on Wednesday. Gandhinagar and Deesa were the third hottest  — at 42.2 degree Celsius each.
