Gujarat government's disaster agency Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority (GSDMA) today sent 14 rescue teams, having 46 experts, to flood hit areas in Karnataka.

"We have rushed 14 teams in two Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft to Hubli. The teams are equipped with 14 rescue boats and other equipment," Gujarat government spokesperson and health minister Jaynarayan Vyas said.

Another contingent, having six larger boats and trained persons, has already reached there and will be airlifted to the flood hit areas in the state, he said.

According to Vyas, chief minister Narendra Modi had held a meeting last night in which he issued instructions regarding the rescue operation to be undertaken by the GSDMA teams in the southern state, where over 100 people have died due to unprecedented floods.
