A day after signing the impact fee bill, Gujarat governor Dr Kamla has approved three more bills, which were passed by the state assembly during its two-day session on September 26 and 27.

Government sources said that the governor signed The Gujarat Private Universities (Amendment) Bill, 2011, The Gujarat Primary Education (Amendment) Bill, 2011, and The Gujarat Animal Preservation (Amendment) Bill, 2011. All the three bills were passed unanimously by the assembly.

With the passing of The Gujarat Private Universities (Amendment) Bill, certain grant-in-aid colleges will now get the status of private universities.

The governor’s nod to The Gujarat Primary Education (Amendment) Bill clears the path for implementation of Right to Education Act in the state. Around 5,000 new posts of head-master will be created in the state.

The Gujarat Animal Preservation (Amendment) Bill, commonly known as cow slaughter bill, which proposed stricter punishments for cow slaughter, was also approved by the governor.

It may be noted here that the governor had also approved The Gujarat Regularisation of Unauthorised Development Bill, commonly known as impact fee bill, on Wednesday. With this, four of the five bills passed by the assembly in the recent session, have been cleared by the governor in last two days. The one which is yet to be signed is The Bombay Inams (Kutch Area) Abolition (Repeal) Bill, 2011. The bill was passed by the assembly with a majority.
