The government has banned advance possession of land to state-owned boards/corporations without collecting the jantri price of the said land.
The state government, which claims to be proactive in fulfilling requirements of the industry by quick allotment of land for their projects, have now decided to be strict in allocating land to its own boards and corporations. Highly-placed sources in the state government said, "The state revenue department has issued an order putting restriction on advance possession of land to state boards/corporations. The new order says that boards/corporations will need to pay the price of land according to the prevailing jantris to the district collector concerned.
Possession of land will be granted only thereafter. Price, area of land etc. will be decided by the district collector concerned. Boards/corporations will have to abide by his/her decision."
Sources further said, "Government had to come out with this new policy because some boards/corporations had taken advance possession of land from district authorities but did not pay a penny for many years. Such boards/corporations owe crores to the state government for the land given to them."
They added, "Government has made it compulsory for all boards/corporations to get land prices fixed through the competent authority and pay the price difference (for advance land possession) within three months. If boards/corporations fail to pay the price for land in three months, then the authority concerned will be eligible to get interest at the rate of 8%. The new rule will also be applicable to advance land possession for 66kv power sub-stations.''
