Gujarat cops begin probe in lovebirds issue

The Sarkhej police have started investigation in the case in which a couple was assaulted and left almost naked in Sarkhej on Friday after being allegedly found in a compromising position by some men.
 
The girl in her twenties lodged an FIR late on Friday night in which she accused two men of robbing and thrashing her boyfriend (in his 40s) and her in Amli village off SG Highway.

According to sub inspector SM Parmar, who is investigating the case, the girl stated that she and her friend were sitting besides a road when two people attacked them.

Police said the couple was dragged into a farm besides the road and robbed. She stated that the assaulters took away her earrings, cell phone and Rs100 in cash.

However, cops are not sure if mere loot was the motive behind the attack.

 The girl was first spotted by some cops in a battered, bruised and disrobed condition. Her boyfriend was found lying unconscious and naked in a farm off SP Ring Road on Friday morning. Cops suspect that it could be the handiwork of someone known to the couple (since the girl is a Hindu and the man is a married Muslim with three kids) or they were indeed robbed by a gang.

According to cops, the girl got acquainted with the man who is an AMTS bus driver. They were in love and had gone for garba on Thursday night. Later they went to a remote area of Amli village, said the cops.
