Gujarat Assembly adjourned over law and order situation

The Congress today raised the demand for discussion on law and order situation in Gujarat after the arrest of Amit Shah and other policemen in the 2005 fake encounter case.

The Gujarat Assembly was today adjourned after uproarious scenes were witnessed in the House when Congress demanded a discussion on law and order situation in the state following the arrest of former Gujarat minister Amit Shah in connection with Sohrabuddin fake encounter case.

The Congress today raised the demand for discussion on law and order situation in Gujarat after the arrest of Shah and other policemen in the 2005 fake encounter case.

Speaker Daulat Desai however rejected the demand following which Congress members started shouting slogans inside the House.

Later, BJP members also indulged in sloganeering against the CBI.

The slogan shouting by the members of the ruling and opposition parties led to a lot of commotion after which Desai adjourned the House for a hour.

Despite this, Congress members continued shouting slogans after coming out of the House and also displayed placards condemning the law and order situation in the state.

Talking to mediapersons, GPCC president Siddharth Patel said, "Congress has raised the demand of discussion on law and order situation in the state after the arrest of 15 police officials, ex-Gujarat minister Amit Shah and the murder of RTI activist Amit Jethwa besides illegal mining issues."

"The speaker has not given us the chance, so we will once again raise the issue in the House," Patel said.

Earlier, during the question answer session replying to a question of Khoman Sinh Chauhan of Congress, Gujarat minister of state for home Praful Patel informed that 15 police officials have been arrested in the state in connection with various cases in last two years.

He, however refused to give further details saying the cases against them are pending in the court and matter is sub-judice.
