General VK Singh says he’s a victim of backlash

Amid controversy over alleged snooping by army in capital, it chief General VK Singh on Tuesday said people who felt “exposed” by his actions against corruption are striking back by leaking false information of phone tapping.

Talking to media on the sidelines of a function, Gen Singh said, “I started with a particular thing. Unfortunately that what is hurting a lot to many people. We have Adarsh. We have all sorts of things, and people are feeling that all their wrongdoings have been exposed.”

Replying to a question on Army Headquarters had issued a press release blaming retired Director General of Defence Intelligence Agency Lt General Tejinder Singh and a few “serving disgruntled” officers for leaking stories in the media about misuse of off-the-air monitoring devices by army.

“We don’t hid facts. Such fictions has to be countered. Necessary action is being taken against officers who are behind leaking “fictitius” stories to media,” General Singh added.

However, Lt Gen (Retd) Tejinder Singh has dismissed such allegations by army and said will approached law of the country for legal action.
