FIR against Mulayam Singh Yadav's nephew for beating BSP leader

The Samajwadi Party said that the cases were lodged due to political rivalry.

An FIR has been registered against nephew of SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav for allegedly beating a BSP leader and looting money from him.

The incident took place on Sunday when one Manju Devi reached office of additional election officer to withdraw her nomination from the post of district panchayat member in favour of SP candidate and the move was objected by BSP leader Harnarain Yadav Baba.

A scuffle broke out and Mulayam's nephew Anshul Yadav, whose mother Premlata Yadav is in the fray for the same post, allegedly thrashed Harnarain and a few others.

Later, Harnarain lodged an FIR against Anshul and nine other SP members for abusing, beating and looting Rs 23,500 from him.

A cross FIR was also filed against Harnarain by Manju Devi, who alleged that he abused and dragged her and also snatched over Rs 5000 from her.

The Samajwadi Party said that the cases were lodged due to political rivalry.

Police have so far arrested seven SP workers in this connection.
