Union minister and UPA ally National Conference president Farooq Abdullah today welcomed passing of Women's Reservation Bill in Rajya Sabha, calling it a "milestone" in the history of Indian democracy.
"I am delighted that bill has been passed and now I hope it will be a smooth sailing in Lok Sabha. We will see the final clauses and hope that concerns of Muslim community will be taken care of," Abdullah, the Union minister for new and renewable energy, said.
The NC leader said he was sad about the unruly behaviour by some Rajya Sabha members who disrupted the proceedings of the House.
"I feel sad. These developments don't augur well for our democracy. It has been disrupted the way even children will not disrupt it. I congratulate the chairman for conducting himself in most tiring circumstances," he said.
