If you are planning a year-end booze party at some farmhouse on the outskirts of the city, think again. The police, especially on the city's outskirts, are getting ready to bust such parties. In fact, the Kalol police have revived their informer network for the purpose.

A source in the police said they want to ensure that they are tipped off in time for a possible raid on bibulous revellers.

These farmhouses are located mainly in Sanand, Rancharda, Kalol, Adalaj and some other areas on the outskirts of Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. Besides preparing for raids that may become necessary, the police officials claim they will also be arresting the bootleggers who provide liquor to year-end parties.

Talking to DNA, deputy superintendent of police, Kalol, Usha Rada, said that patrolling in the areas where the farmhouses are located will be intensified, especially to check the menace of year-end booze parties. "We will increase patrolling, especially in Kalol and Adalaj areas," she said.

Rada busted a high-profile booze party on Friday and arrested as many as 50 people from the venue. "We have revived our informer network in the areas where the farmhouses are located," she said.

The Kalol police are depending on their informer network to check booze parties in the area. "Plainclothes police will also be deployed to keep watch on the farmhouses and nearby areas," said a source in the Kalol police.

Farmhouses located in Bopal and its adjoining areas will also see an increased police presence this month as compared to other areas. Sources in Ahmedabad rural police said that the police had already identified the 'trouble-makers' among the farmhouses and will soon increase patrolling in their areas.

A source in Ahmedabad rural police told DNA that the bootleggers in the area have been warned to curb their activities. "Patrolling in many areas has been increased, especially during nights," a
police officer said.
