False fire alarm in Kochi-bound Emirates flight causes panic

A false fire alarm triggered panic in an Emirates flight from Dubai with 281 people onboard as it was landing at the airport in Kochi today.

The flight EK 532 arrived in Kochi at 3.05am and just as it was landing the alarm went off, airport officials said.

Captain Allan, pilot of the Kochi-bound flight, immediately informed the Air Traffic Control.

The fire brigade personnel were summoned immediately.

However, it was later found to be a false alarm, they said.

The aircraft has been grounded and taken to the parking bay. Its onward journey to Dubai today has been cancelled.

About 82 passengers from Kochi have been put on an alternative flight, they added.
