Eunuch gets elected to civic body in Gujarat

A eunuch, Nayak Vasanti De Kusumde, was elected to the local civic body of Khambhaliya town of Jamnagar district yesterday.

It was perhaps for the first time that a eunuch got elected to a civic body in Gujarat.

After getting elected as an independent candidate from ward no 5, Vasanti De said, "I will work for the development of the town and its people and will not tolerate corruption."

Incidentally, it was a general seat from where the eunuch got elected.

In the 27 member civic body, BJP won 21 seats followed by Congress which managed to win three seats while independents won in three wards.
