Employee defrauds Cadila Pharma of Rs4.71 crore

City-based Cadila Pharmaceutical has lodged a police complaint against one of its employees for defrauding it to the tune of Rs4.71 crore with the help of fake documents. The accused employee has been arrested.

Police said that Bhavin Patel, a resident of Jawahar chowk, Maninagar, was arrested by Aslali police late on Tuesday. Patel, working as assistant manager in Cadila Pharmaceutical, allegedly misused his position and defrauded his employer to the tune of Rs4.71 crore.

As per officials, Patel was working with the leading pharma company in the capacity of assistant manager for close to four years.

Patel faked purchase orders and credit notes of non-existent companies, and embezzled the money. The fraud came to the notice of the company some days back, which was followed by a police complaint against Patel on September 11. The complaint was registered by Ambawadi-resident, Ramesh Patel, who works as a manager with Cadila.
