Educationists and people from all walks of life here have demanded severe punishment to the accused of Surat gangrape case.

The three accused arrested in the case, two of them sons of policemen, allegedly abducted a 17-year-old girl in early Friday morning when she was on her way to the tuition and raped her in a moving car. They had also shot the rape.

The  police investigations have revealed that accused had more video clips of gangrape indicating that they were allegedly involved in more than one cases of gangrape.

Demanding  strict punishment for the three accused, former member of National executive of Medical Council of India, Dr Prakash Shah said those involved in the crime should be strictly punished as they have damaged the image of safe Gujarat.

Member of the syndicate of Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda and a BJP corporator, Rajesh Parikh said, "I plead with Surat city's new commissioner of police Shvanan Jha to ensure severe punishment to the accused."

Former president of Gujarat Bar council and advocate Rajendra Trivedi said it is heinous offence and the culprits deserve the severe punishment and police should see to it that real accused are punished.

Managing trustee of Parul Institute, Jayesh Patel requested the state government to strengthen security and ensure that such incidents do not occur again.

Secretary of an educational trust, Harish Malani demanded exemplary punishment for the accused who happen to be the sons of police officials.

Former city mayor, Dalsukh Prajapati demanded measures for the protection of women and students in the city and other parts of the state.

Many others have demanded strict police vigil around coaching classes and educational institutions.
