The Navrangpura police interrogated Bharti Dolariya, the alleged subordinate of Chetan Mehta, the fraudster who escaped after promising a job in Dubai to over 300 people in the state, but did not arrest the woman as they found that she was just an employee at the Cross World Organisation owned by Mehta.

The investigating police officer and police inspector, Navrangpura police station, KC Rathod, said that the police have recorded her statement and it has been found that she was employed as a telephone operator and did not have any idea about Mehta's fraudulent schemes.

Rathod further said that Dolariya is a resident of Naroda and her job consisted of transferring the telephone lines to Mehta.

He also added that Dolariya was introduced to Mehta by one of her friends, who was working at an electronics shop next to Mehta's office. "The girl working in the electronics shop informed Dolariya about a vacancy at Mehta's firm," Rathod said.

Mehta had submitted duplicate documents to the owner of his office at Aniket building in CG Road. "His Himmatnagar address as well as the documents submitted to the owner of the office, while taking the premises on rent, were not original," said a victim.
The Navrangpura police have informed the immigration department in a bid to stop Mehta from fleeing the country.
