Dubai president condoles deaths of people in Mangalore crash

President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and prime minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, expressed grief over yesterday's accident.

UAE president and prime minister today condoled the death of 158 people who had boarded an Air Indian Express aircraft in Dubai which crashed in Mangalore.

In separate messages to president Pratibha Patil and prime minister Manmohan Singh, president Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and prime minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, expressed grief over yesterday's accident.

They asked "Allah" to grant the families of the victims the patience to bear the losses and also wished the survivors a quick recovery, Gulf News reported.

Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz and Kuwait's Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah also expressed their grief in condolence messages sent to Pratibha Patil and Manmohan Singh.

Meanwhile, Singapore prime minister Lee Hsien Loong also condoled the deaths of passengers of the Air India Express plane crash in Mangalore.

"I am deeply saddened to hear about the plane crash of Air India Express this morning near the southern Indian city of Mangalore," said Lee in his condolence letter to prime minister Manmohan Singh.

"On behalf of the government of Singapore, I would like to express our  deepest condolences to the people and government of India, especially to  the  victims’  families and dependents.

I also hope the survivors of the tragic accident will recover soon," he said.

An Air India Express flight overshot the runway in Mangalore and burst into flames yesterday, killing 158 persons but eight others survived.
