Delhi University admissions: Another cut-off list for OBC students

A number of Delhi University colleges today came out with a lowered cut-off list for OBC candidates, hoping to round up admissions in the category over the next two days.

The list, understood to be the last for this year's admission season, showed there was plenty in store for OBC students as many colleges had failed to fill up the seats in this reserved category.

Hansraj, Gargi, Lady Shri Ram, Sri Venkateshwara and Hindu college are among the high-profile colleges, who lowered their cut-offs in several subjects including the much sought after B Com (honours) and Eco (honours).

While Hindu lowered the B Com (honours) cut-off percentage for OBC candidates to 85.5, Hansraj brought it down to 82 and LSR put it at 89.25. Dayal Singh college is ready to admit students to fill the quota at 79 per cent.

Colleges were directed by the University to declare two additional cut-off lists for the category and bring down the relaxation to a maximum of 10 per cent if necessary after a large number of seats were left vacant despite five rounds of admissions.

The University had also asked colleges not to transfer the reserved seats to general category students until further notice from the government.

Admission for the released list will be held on July 18 and 19.

The HRD ministry last month wrote to the University, asking it to implement 27 per cent reservation for OBC students in "letter and spirit" after the issue was brought to the notice of the government.
