The Delhi high court today refused to allow former MP Ajay Singh Chautala, against whom a disproportionate assets case has been filed, to visit Pakistan for a Commonwealth programme.

Son of former Haryana chief minister Om Prakash Chautala; Ajay who is the president of Table Tennis Federation of India, has been invited to be part of a delegation for receiving the International Leg Queen's Baton Relay.

The 49-year old politician pleaded before the court that he has been cooperating with the ongoing investigation and there is no chance of his escaping from the country.

Justice SN Dhingara, however, refused to allow him to leave the country and asked him to approach the trial court which is hearing the case against him.

The CBI had on December 24 last year filed a chargesheet against Ajay and his brother Abhay Chautala, who represent Indian National Lok Dal in Haryana Assembly, for having assets more than their known sources of income.

The investigating agency's FIR listed the moveable and immoveable properties belonging to Chautala or his family members that had been acquired between July 1999 and March 2005 when they were public servants.

CBI had conducted a market survey and claimed in its FIR filed in April last year that the total value of all the properties was Rs1,467 crore.

According to the chargesheet against Ajay, CBI claimed he was in possession of assets to the tune of Rs27.74 crore 339% more than his income of Rs8.17 crore during the period of 1993 to 2006.

The second chargesheet was filed against Abhay saying his assets were 522% more than his income of Rs22.89 crore as per Income Tax records during the period of 2000 to 2005.

The agency claimed to have found Rs119.69 crore worth of assets.

Earlier, OP Chautala, who is also facing DA case, was allowed to go to the US for treatment of his leg.
