Delhi govt clear road projects totalling Rs 44.5 crore

The Expenditure Finance Committee of Delhi Government today cleared three road projects totalling Rs 44.5 crore which will be completed well ahead of next year's Commonwealth Games. The projects to be implemented by the PWD were cleared today at an EFC meeting presided over by Delhi Finance Minister A K Walia.

Briefing media after the meeting, Walia said that a new service road and drain would be constructed along the Delhi-Rohtak road (NH-10) and the existing road would be strengthened at a cost of Rs 23.92 crore. This work would be completed within six months time.

NH-10, which caters to a very high traffic volume, is a major corridor from Delhi to Haryana. The Public Works Department would also construct a four-lane bridge near Barapullah Nallah on the Ring Road to provide free and smooth flow of traffic.

Officials said the PWD will convert the four-lane bridge near the Sarai Kale Khan ISBT into 8-lane bridge. This project would cost Rs 8.91 crore and the work would be completed within six months.

Walia said a sum of Rs 11.53 crore has also been sanctioned for strengthening both sides of the Link Road and Old Delhi-Gurgaon Road. He said cracks and potholes have appeared on the road causing accidents.
