New Delhi: Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit today launched another round of Pulse Polio Campaign, to be kicked off tomorrow, by administering anti-polio drops to a number of children here.

"It would be ensured that no virus of Polio could enter the city. We have shown better results in this field," she said exhorting parents to come forward and bring their children up to 5 years of age for immunisation at polio booths to be set up across the city.

Around 25 lakh children will be administered Polio drops tomorrow. Out of 4 cases reported in Delhi in the year 2009, 3 were those effected by P1 Virus and 1 with P3 Virus. Last year, 568 cases were reported from the country.

Health Minister Kiran Walia said 8,200 polio booths would be established tomorrow to administer polio vaccine and around 35,000 workers and employees of the health Department would be deployed to ensure maximum reach to the children.

The stalls would be erected at railway stations, ISBT, public places, major temples, metro stations, Millennium Park and Zoo. Apart from this, a door-to-door week-long survey would also be conducted under search and immunisation Pulse Polio Campaign.

"Around 17,000 workers in 9,200 teams would visit different colonies including slum and JJ clusters to search leftover cases and administer Polio drops to those children," Walia said.
