With four murders in 12 hours starting 9.30 pm on Thursday, the national capital appears bent on strengthening its claim to the sobriquet ‘crime capital of India’.

The dead include a property dealer and a businessman and the motives, business rivalry and robbery.

Two murders happened in South Delhi at around 9.30 am on Friday.
Unidentified men barged into the Khanpur residence of property dealer Dalbir Singh Yadav and stabbed him.

“Yadav was severely injured and succumbed to his injuries in hospital. Investigators are looking into his business dealings,” a police officer said.

“Dalbir had had an argument with a guest at a party at his house last night. We are investigating all angles.”

In the second murder, bike-borne assailants shot dead an accountant at Bhogal.
“Umesh was in his Santro car when some bikers tried to stop him. When he resisted, they opened fire. A bag was stolen from his car,” a policeman said.

Earlier on Thursday night, six men robbed and shot dead trader KL Sachdeva while he was returning to his Shalimar Bagh residence.

“Sachdeva was returning home in his car from Lajpat Rai Market in Chandni Chowk when a car and motorcycle intercepted him,” police said. “As soon as he stopped, he was shot dead. Robbery seems to be the motive as the assailants fled with two bags containing money.”

The fourth case happened at 11.30 pm on Thursday in East Delhi when five people shot dead 25-year-old garment trader Bhupendra Jain over a money dispute.
“Jain had borrowed money from the attackers,” police said.
