CPI slams Chidambaram on comments over poll killings

Expressing concern over the recent spate of political killings in West Bengal, Chidambaram had said, "We are concerned. It (killings) should stop. After all who are being killed are average political workers."

The CPI today flayed Union home minister P Chidambaram for making 'sweeping' comments on the recent political killings in West Bengal and said law and order is state's responsibility.
      
"Chidambaram is aware of the law and order situation in the state and that it is the responsibility of the state government to maintain it," CPI state secretary Manju Kumar Majumder said in a statement here.
      
Majumder said that the Union home minister should not have passed comments on the issue only on the basis of complaints received from a political party and that too without consulting the state government.
 
Expressing concern over the recent spate of political killings in West Bengal, Chidambaram had yesterday in New Delhi said, "We are concerned. It (killings) should stop. After all who are being killed are average political workers."
