CPI (M) pays respects to victims of Keezhavenmani massacre

Floral tribute was offered by Left parties to the martyrs of Keezhavenmani Massacre in the district on the occasion of its 42nd anniversary today.

Forty four Dalits, mostly women and children, were burnt alive On December 25, 1968, by the henchmen of landlords in Keezhavenmani village during a protest by agricultural labourers.

The CPI (M), which observes the day as 'Venmani Martyrs Day', arranged for several events at the village today.

CPI(M) and CPI leaders and cadre paid tribute at the place where the 44 persons were burnt alive. Tight security arrangements were made at the village.
