The Ellisbridge police investigating the Avinash Patel case, where he hanged self after killing three of his family members, are yet to arrest any of the four financiers whom Patel had named in the suicide note. One of the financiers is Ramesh Desai.

According to reports, Desai was charging an interest as high as 20% from Patel against the amount he had paid him. Police sources said Patel was paying a monthly interest of Rs4-5 lakh to the financier and he had a debt of more than Rs50 lakh. Patel had got into a trap of heavy interest charged by the Desai, who is allegedly rotating the money of many police officers and a Youth Congress leader.  Police say the handwriting of Patel's suicide note is yet to be confirmed.

They say they cannot detain or arrest Desai until a handwriting expert confirms that the Patel's suicide note was written by Patel only.

Police had called Naveen Solanki, who had lent Rs8 lakh to Patel, for interrogation. Solanki told the police that he had a partnership with Patel in his medical shop.
