In a unique initiative, the police department, in collaboration with dairy giant Amul, opened Amul parlours at two police lines in the city on Tuesday. The two corners were thrown open for the families of staff members working with the police department as well as for the public at Danilimda and Kagdapith.

Talking to DNA, deputy commissioner of police Zone-VI Sachin Badshah said, “The two corners were inaugurated today. The idea is to make available quality products to families of those working with the police department as well for the public.” Although this is not the first time that an Amul parlour has been opened in collaboration with the police (such a corner has been opened on the premises of the police commissionerate office), it is the first time that a parlour has been opened near the police line.

Officials also said that apart from providing families of the staff members products, 1% of the profit made by selling Amul products will also be directed towards the police welfare fund.

A source in the department said that similar other initiatives are being planned for the welfare of the families of those working with the department. Initiatives, like starting of computer classes and skill-based teaching in police lines, have already begun in a bid to help their children get good education and make a good career for themselves.
