The court of additional sessions judge, GR Udhwani has directed the metropolitan magistrate to submit a report in connection with a case in which a man was allegedly assaulted by the Danilimda police.  The report has to be submitted within four weeks.

The chief metropolitan court magistrate had rejected the application of Noor Mohammed Saiyed, a resident of Danilimda who was allegedly assaulted by Danilimda police personnel.

As per case details, Saiyed had filed a corruption case against few cops of Danilimda police station at the metropolitan court. Even as the corruption case was in progress, he was allegedly assaulted and threatened by few cops of Danilimda police station at the metropolitan court, Gheekanta. The cops allegedly asked him to withdraw the case. Saiyed reported the fact before the Danilimda court and also filed an application against the police.

However, the Danilimda court rejected Saiyed's application stating that he was assaulted at the metropolitan court which is not under its purview.

The Karanj court too rejected Saiyed's application on the same grounds. Irked over this, Saiyed filed an application with the chief metropolitan magistrate who too refused to entertain his application.

Later, Saiyed filed an application at the court of additional session judge, GR Udhwani. Udhwani while directing the chief metropolitan court to submit the report, he observed that the chief metropolitan court's jurisdiction is the entire city.
