Congress to conclude 1st phase of campaigning in UP by December

With the stakes high for Congress in poll-bound Uttar Pradesh, the party plans to complete the first phase of campaigning in all 403 Assembly seats in the state by December.

AICC general secretaries and Union ministers will be roped in for canvasssing, Union Minister Sriprakash Jaiswal told reporters here.

Noting that both Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi will campaign, he suggested that the young leader would play a major role in reaching out to the people.

Rahul had kickstarted the campaign from his great grandfather Jawaharlal Nehru's constituency Phulpur yesterday unleashing a scathing attack on Mayawati government by calling it "corrupt and insensitive".
