Congress takes a dig at Team Anna, again

With more charges being levelled against Team Anna with each passing day, the Congress has latched on to the opportunity and taken on the high moral ground.

“When there is a movement against corruption, its frontline leaders cannot be those who have to answer questions about their own conduct. In such a situation, people tend to lose faith in such anti-corruption movements,”said party spokesperson Rashid Alvi.

Alvi did not name any team Anna member, but Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh, who has been the most vocal critic of the group, did not spare any punches. He targeted both Arvind Kejriwal and Kiran Bedi. “It is surprising that now she is saying that the money can be returned to the hosts. If this principle is accepted, then even A Raja can return the money and be out of jail,” he argued.

For Digvijay Singh the BJP coming to Kejriwal’s defence was just proof of the nexus between the BJP, RSS and team Anna. “All that I have been saying about their conspiracy is now out in the open,” he said.

Alvi also questioned BJP leader LK Advani’s credentials to hold a rath yatra against corruption. “Now he is saying he had cautioned the former Karnataka CM BS Yeddyurappa. You can only caution someone against anything when you are aware that he is doing something wrong. So, does this imply that Advani was aware of the wrong-doings being committed by Yeddyurappa? If that is so, then why did he not act in time to prevent such wrong-doing,” charged Alvi.
