A delegation of Congress leaders, including some mines owners against whom the BJP had levelled charges of illegal mining, today called on Karnataka governor HR Bhardwaj and said they were ready to face any probe.
The delegation comprised Congress Rajya Sabha MP Anil Lad, his brother Santosh Lad, MLA, and former MLA Allam Veerabhadrappa. They submitted a memorandum to the governor saying they were ready to face any kind of inquiry including from CBI.
The visit comes in the wake of allegations levelled by tourism minister G Janardhan Reddy two days ago accusing them of their involvement in illegal mining.
The leaders also denied the allegations when they met Bhardwaj.
The Congress had insisted on a CBI probe into illegal mining and the alleged role of Reddy brothers which was turned down by the BJP government which ordered an inquiry by Lokayukta.
