President of Delhi Shiromani Akali Dal (Punjab Wing) Jaswinder Singh today demanded that the Akal Takht should disallow former SGPC chief Bibi Jagir Kaur from contesting from Bholath Assembly constituency.
In a memorandum to Akal Takht, he alleged that a commercial vehicle, belonging to Kaur, carrying liquor in bulk, was recently seized and a police case registered in this regard. Kaur is a SAD (Badal) candidate from Bholath.
Singh said anyone who attempts to distribute liquor to people in order to woo them to win elections does not deserve to be the part of Sikh fold.
He said since Kaur was president of SGPC and has "grossly violated" the Sikh religious code of conduct besides hurting the sentiments of Sikh community, she should be summoned at Akal Takht and barred from contesting election on the ticket of a Sikh political party.
