Committee set up in Rajasthan on Gujjar quota demand

The committee, headed by retired high court judge IS Israni would consider all issues and matters related to Gujjar agitation and hold discussion with community leaders.

Pursuant to an order of the Rajasthan High Court, the state government today set up a high-power committee to look into the demands of Gujjar community which is on agitation demanding 5% reservation in jobs and educational institutions.
    
The seven-member committee would be headed by retired high court judge IS Israni, a CMO spokesperson said.
    
Congress MP Ratan Singh, independent MLA Ramswaroop Kasana, Karan Singh Yadav (Congress), Satya Narayan Singh, former chairman of OBC commission, lawyer VS Gujjar and Niranjan Arya IAS have been nominated as the other members of the committee.
    
The committee was set up in compliance with a high court order on a PIL on the ongoing Gujjar agitation, the spokesperson said.
    
The committee would consider all issues and matters related to Gujjar agitation and hold discussion with community leaders, he said.
