Guess who is the biggest catch for the police in the booze party busted on Thursday midnight! It has a wide variety — starting from the son of a police officer to even a serving colonel and a fraudster wanted by the detection of crime branch.

He tried everything to hide his face and even his name, but the vigilant rural police found out that the person who had identified himself as Rakesh Varma, a resident of Shivganesh Bungalows in Thaltej was actually Rito Bortosen Gupta, a colonel serving in Dhragandhra army camp. The police have also booked him for not revealing his proper identity.

"He tried to hide his name but when we started to probe his identity the truth was revealed," district superintendent of police, Ahmedabad rural, Sandeep Singh told DNA.

Singh also said that the party organiser Narendrasinh Vaghela, is the son of a policeman in Ahmedabad rural police.

"Vaghela's father is an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) in Aslali police station," Singh said. Vaghela is a resident of Sarthi Bungalows in Daskroi in Sanand and is a financer by profession. "Vaghela was the key organiser of the party," a police source said.

However, the biggest catch by the Ahmedabad rural police was Alpesh Patel, the accused wanted in a fraud case of Rs1.5 crore by the detection of crime branch (DCB). "Patel had collected the money from people under the pretext of investing it and promised larger returns, but did not return the money," a police source said. Patel was wanted since the complaint was filed against him in DCB.

An official said, "All of them are youths and belong to well-to-do families. The party was held by them in a closed room in a clubhouse but we busted them as soon as we got a tip-off."
All the youths reside in posh areas including Naranpura, Bopal, Vastrapur, Sanand and Ghatlodia. Officials said that the accused have been booked under the Prohibition Act and Bombay Police Act.

Police busted the booze party held in the clubhouse which falls in a plot adjacent to Shyamvilla Bungalows. Sources said that Vaghela had asked the owner of the bungalow, Raju Thakore to lend the clubhouse for one night as they were friends.
