Coast Guard nabs Myanmarese boat with 15 poachers

The boat was towed to Diglipur Harbour in Andaman and the poachers were handed over to police for further action, a Coast Guard press release said.

The Coast Guard has apprehended a Myanmarese boat with 15 poachers off Andaman and Nicobar islands.

"During routine surveillance of Northern group of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Coast Guard ship Durgabhai Deshmukh apprehended a Myanmarese boat off Interview Island at 2.15am on November 27, a Coast Guard press release said.

The boat was towed to Diglipur Harbour in Andaman and the poachers were handed over to police for further action, it said.

The Coast Guard ship has so far apprehended six boats with 51 Myanmarese poachers.

In the last eight months, 26 ships have been apprehended, including 242 foreign poachers, the release added.
