A 13-year-old boy was allegedly beaten to death by personnel of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) in Jharkand's coal city Dhanbad on Friday, police sources said.

According to police, the boy was found dead near Ghanawadih colliery of Bharat Coking Cola Limited (BCCL) situated under Jharia coal belt.

"The villagers allege the boy was beaten to death by CISF personnel on charges of coal theft," said P Shukla, officer in-charge of Jorapokhar police station.

"The local CISF unit has denied the allegations. We are investigating the case. The identity of the boy has yet to be ascertained".

However, a police source told IANS, "The allegations appear to be true as the CISF says the boy died after jumping from the window of a room. However, the window has grills."

"How can a person jump from a window having grills. The CISF local unit is also not divulging the name of jawans deployed at the time of the incident," the source added.

Police sources say some injury marks were found on the boy's body. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
