Chief minister Naveen Patnaik turns 64

Orissa chief minister Naveen Patnaik today turned 64 but did not celebrate his birthday. "I am not celebrating the birthday today due to demise of my mother earlier this year", Patnaik told reporters as he proceeded to attend the district collectors' conference at the state secretariat here.
 
Born on October 16, 1946 at Cuttack, Naveen met well wishers and people at his residence in the morning and attended office as usual. A large number of people including ministers, school students and disabled persons made a beeline to greet Patnaik.
 
Patnaik, who had entered into active police after the death of his father in April, 1997, had set a record by becoming chief minister of the state for three consecutive
times in 2000, 2004 and 2009.
 
A bachelor, Naveen is the son of legendary Biju Patnaik and Gyan Patnaik and youngest of three. He is also the founder president of the regional Biju Janata Dal.
