Delhi is infamous for road rage. On Wednesday evening, it was the turn of the son of the Chief Justice of India, KG Balakrishnan. Pradeep Bhushan was allegedly assaulted by a group of three men. The incident happened close to the area where top bureaucrats of the country live.

The police said the assailants, travelling in a car, first hit Bhushan’s vehicle from behind near the ring road, adjacent to Gurdwara Nanakpura Sahib in Moti Bagh, southwest Delhi. When Bhushan objected to this, the assailants overtook his car and assaulted him.

Senior police officers who were at the spot said Bhushan was not injured in the incident.
“The son of CJI Balakrishnan was assaulted by three men. We tried to speak to him but his family members told us that there was no need for a case to be registered against anyone,” said a senior police officer.

The official also said that when the police van reached the spot after getting the call from Bhushan, there was no one in the area and both the parties had already left. Bhushan didn’t want to register an official complaint with the police since no one was injured, the police said. The police were unable to trace the assailants since Bhushan didn’t give the details of their car or any information about them.

“There has been no official complaint, apart from the call made at the police control room. We tried to speak to Pradeep Bhushan but we were told by his family members that they didn’t want to file a complaint,” said the officer.

“We were unable to contact Pradeep Bhushan because his number didn’t flash on the wireless message system that registers calls in the control room,” the officer added. Bhushan is a practicing lawyer in Delhi.
