Charutar Vidya Mandal (CVM), one of the biggest educational trusts in Gujarat, has declared its plans for the next 10 years. CVM, which runs 45 educational institutions with student enrolment of more than 35,000, in courses from kindergarten to post graduate level, has decided to expand its educational activity on 225 acres of land at a cost of Rs500 crore.

CL Patel, chairman of CVM, said, "We have planned an Institute of Defense Technology — the fifth engineering college of CVM — on 37 acres of land at a cost of Rs100 crore. A School of Design on 15 acres of land costing Rs30 crore is coming up, which will have seven different designing branches.

CVM has the privilege of establishing the first engineering college exclusively for women in the state in 2009-10, and now we are planning to have a polytechnic for girls, for a diploma in engineering studies, on 7.5 acres of land at a cost of Rs20 crore."

Patel said, "We have plans to expand our educational institutions but we are short of land as our present premises at New Vallabh Vidyanagar is only 70 acres, which is not enough. So, if the state government helps us get another 225 acres of land at market prices, we are confident of completing these projects in the next 10 years at an expense of Rs500 crore."
