In a fallout of the Ruchika molestation case in which she was expelled by her school, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will soon issue guidelines to ensure that other schools do not take such steps against the victims.

The guidelines to be issued shortly will cover wide-ranging issues including the academic and administration matters, Vinit Joshi, Chairman of CBSE said.

He said, "We issue guidelines in the beginning of a calender year on every important issue of that year. Since this issue (Ruchika case) has emerged as a very serious matter this year, our guidelines will have specific reference on how to handle such cases".

The advisory will also suggest to school authorities how to consider the emotions of the students while taking action
against them and how to deal with pressures from outside and the overall harassment of any student.

"The idea is that the students should be provided with a peaceful environment to concentrate on studies rather than being affected by any unnecessary element," Joshi added.

The Chandigarh administration has initiated an inquiry against the management of Sacred Heart School for expelling Ruchika allegedly under the influence of the then Haryana director general of police (DGP) SPS Rathore in 1990.
