A CBI court in Kochi has ordered an issuance of a non-bailable arrest warrant against Pakistani national Abdul Rehaman, an accused in the case relating to recruitment of Keralites for militant activities in Kashmir.

The CBI special court judge S Vijay Kumar issued the order in the 2008 case filed by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) probing terror cases in Kerala.

The accused is residing in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) and the warrant will be served through the central government, NIA sources said today.

The NIA had filed an interim report in the case before the CBI court last week.

Rehaman alias Wali was arraigned as the 24th accused in the case relating to recruitment of some Keralites for terror activities. Four Keralites Fayas, Abdul Rahim, Mohammed Yasin and Fayes, who were recruited, were killed in an encounter with security forces.

Wali was said to have operated from Hyderabad and had recruited the Keralites with the help of alleged Lashkar-e-Taiba operative T Nazeer, an accused in the July 2008 Bangalore blast case and Kalamassery bus burning case. Wali is also an accused in the Bangalore blasts that left one person dead and injured 20 others.

The NIA had also produced photographs of the four killed in the encounter and copies of the statement of witnesses, who identified the deceased, were submitted in the court last week.

Judge Vijaykumar had also directed examination of relatives of the accused who identified the bodies with the help of photographs.

The case will come up before the court on November 23.
