A call centre executive came up with an 'innovative' way to keep the cops on their toes as far as terror drill is concerned. He shot a terror email from a proxy server threatening 'cruel attack' on Ahmedabad referred to in a code, besides taking responsibility for the bomb blast at the Delhi high court. The 'cruel attack' referred to schools being targeted by terrorists. This not-so brilliant plan was the brainchild of Monu Oza, a call centre executive.

Oza apparently believed that by shooting such a mail he was ensuring that cops remain on their toes and take the terror threats seriously. He also believed that by doing so he was protecting his family and loved ones from terror attacks. The cops, meanwhile, were not amused by Oza's methods. The Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) arrested him from Patan on Monday.

The DCB during its independent investigation into the third and fourth terror emails, which referred to the cruel attacks on Ahmedabad, found that the mails were shot from Patan in Gujarat.
Talking to reporters Oza said that he did not get along well with his father and hence was living in Patan for the last five months. "After the Delhi blast, I wanted to ensure the security of my family and for this it was imperative that the cops remain alert. So I shot the email," he told reporters. Oza said even though he did not live with his family in Ahmedabad he wanted to ensure that they remained safe.

Oza first searched the FBI website and zeroed in on the name Ali Saed El Hoorie - a terrorist on top of America's most wanted list. He then sent the mail posing as Hoorie. The US has announced a prize of Rs22 crore for information leading to the arrest of Hoorie. Police has ruled out the possibility of Oza being part of a terror network.

"He emailed the letter as he was confident of not being nabbed," Sinha said. He used the proxy server to hide his Internet Protocol address (IP address). Oza said that he began to search for proxy servers after getting a laptop and internet dongle from his friend Raju. His friend and given him these things for data entry job. "I got to know about proxy servers and used it to shoot the email," he said. Oza admitted that in retrospect he felt guilty about sending the mail.
