The two-day strike by non-executive employees demanding wage revision, and an indefinite agitation by engineers of state-owned BSNL did not have a major impact as subscribers got uninterrupted services in most regions.

BSNL offers telecom services across the country except in Delhi and Mumbai.
"Our offices across the country have not been affected due to the strike. We have taken enough precautions to ensure that our subscribers do not face any disruption in services, either mobile or land line," BSNL CMD Kuldeep Goyal said.

However, the unions claimed that repair works and customer care services were affected due to the strike call.

"There is a massive response to the call and more than two lakh workers are on strike. Most of the offices are closed as nobody is available," said VAN Namboodri, general secretary, BSNL Employees Union, and convener of the United Front.

With over 7,500 employees on strike across the state, normal work in West Bengal BSNL offices was affected but there was no report of disruption of services.

Around 8,000 BSNL employees in Karnataka struck work, while around 4,000 employees in Tamil Nadu joined the strike impacting administrative work.

The All India Graduate Telecom Officers Association of Engineers, which yesterday started an indefinite strike demanding that officers on deputation from the DoT be absorbed into the company, continued their protest for the second day.
