After repeated infiltration bids by armed militants, BSF today lodged a strong protest with its Pakistani counterparts, Rangers, and warned that the force would react strongly to such attempts.

Three flag meetings were held by BSF and Pakistan Rangers at Regal, Pansar and Chilaryi Border Out Post (BoPs) along International Border (IB) in Samba and Kathua sectors and the force lodged strong protests over infiltration attempts and constructions on zeroline, a senior BSF officer said.

At Chalairi BoP along IB in Hiranagar sub-sector of Kathua district, BSF team comprising Commanding Officers (COs) - Davinder Kumar of 4 Battalion, B S Rawat of 182 Bn and OP Upadhyaya of 59 Bn - met the Pak team led by CO of 3 Chinab Rangers.

The BSF told the Rangers to stop the movement of militants, who are making increasing attempts to infiltrate into Jammu and Kashmir, the officer said.

BSF troops guarding the borderline will react to all such situations strongly in case of infiltration bids, cutting of fencing and smuggling of arms, he said.

Another meeting was held at Regal BoP in the Samba sector today and the BSF lodged a protest over an infiltration attempt by militants in the same area yesterday.

The force had also strongly protested to its Pakistan counterparts at Pansar Border Out Post (BOP) in Hirangar subsector yesterday over construction by Pakistan close to the zeroline, he said.
