BSF arrests seven Burmese crossing over to Pakistan

BSF jawans deployed along the International Border arrested seven Burmese nationals who were trying to cross over to Pakistan today.
 
The BSF handed them over to the area police which arrested them under relevant sections of Indian Passport Act and Foreigners Act, a senior BSF officer said.
 
DIG Ajay Anand said the BSF jawans in Dera Baba Nanak Sector saw some people moving in suspicious manner near the border and upon interrogation revealed that they were Burmese nationals and wanted to cross over to Pakistan.
 
SHO Malkiat Singh said during their preliminary investigation, the arrested said they were lured by a local contact who assured them of help in crossing the border and wanted to go to Pakistan in search of livelihood.
