Boyfriend rapes woman, dumps her

An 18-year-old girl was raped and deserted by her boyfriend in Thaltej. The victim, Nirupama Desai (named changed), has alleged that she was beaten up and raped several times by her boyfriend Jhema Desai, a resident of Kaligam Rabari in Thaltej.

Nirupama was married and even stayed at her in-laws' place for quite some time. Before the marriage, she had an affair with Jhema, but was forced by her parents into the marriage.

After the marriage, Jhema got into touch with her and she decided to run away from her in-laws' house. Soon her husband's family came to know of her affair and the two were divorced. Jhema told the girl that he would marry her soon and asked her to collect money and jewellery from her place.

Reports said Jhema promised Nirupama that they would soon get married at an auspicious time and also get the marriage registered. Nirupama took Rs 2 lakh and jewellery with her and went to her boyfriend in a rented house in Thaltej. When she reached there, Jhema refused to acknowledge her.

According to Nirupama, Jhema said he was married and threatened to kill her if she complained to police or tried to create a scene. A dejected Nirupama went to Mahila police station and lodged a complaint against her boyfriend. She told DNA, "I am two-month pregnant. My boyfriend ruined my life and is now threatening to kidnap and kill me."

She has also met ACP Usha Rada, who has promised her security. Rada said, "We will investigate the matter."
