Ruling BJP kicked off state-wide movement on Saturday against governor HR Bharadwaj at Mysore and Raichur.

Two separate teams headed by chief minister BS Yeddyurappa and state party chief KS Eshwarappa launched second phase of ‘governor hatao-Karnataka bachao’ movement along with scores of party workers.

With this ruling BJP has intensified its agitation and thereby mounting pressure on the Centre to reject governor’s recommendation to impose president rule in the state.

In Raichur protest was led by chief minister BS Yeddyurappa. By garlanding Ambedkar statues, the chief minister kicked off protest and held road show demanding governor’s recall.

He said the governor wants to rule the state government form Vidhana Soudha for which he has advised several times to dissolve the legislative assembly. That’s why he is creating unnecessary trouble and recommended for imposition of Article 356 in the state without any valid grounds,” Yeddyurappa said.

HR Bharadwaj is acting as puppet in the hands of opposition parties, Congress and JD(S). Though he is constitutional expert, he is taking unconstitutional decisions. But people of the state are with us, no one can dismiss a duly elected government, though we are ready to prove majority, governor HR Bharadwaj is not allowing us to do so,” the chief minister added.

When chief minister came stepped down from the dais, some 20 JD(S) workers gheraoed him and shouted slogan against him. Police arrested them immediately. They were later released.
In Mysore, about 1,000 BJP activists held a rally from Gandhi Square to Kote Anjaneyaswamy temple.

Addressing the rally, state BJP chief KS Eshwarappa charged governor as Congress agent. He also flayed the governor for not convening the legislature session from June 2 as sought by the government for passage of full budget to implement programmes outlined in the 2011-12 budget.
