BJP tightens security at Indore conclave after Pune blast

Fearing that the BJP's national conclave in Indore could be the target of a terror attack, the party is taking all steps to secure the venue and may lodge some of its senior leaders in hotels instead of tents.

Some sections of the party feel that leaders like LK Advani, Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi, Chhattisgarh chief minister Raman Singh and former president Rajnath Singh along with other senior leaders should stay in hotels instead of tents but BJP is yet to take a call on it.

"Some sections of the party had made this proposal. But no decision has been taken. As of now, the plan is that our leaders who are on radar of terrorists will also be staying in tents," BJP vice-president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi told PTI.

However, the party has taken several steps to make the venue more secure after reports that it could be targeted in the wake of the terror attack in Pune. 

"The party top brass decided to send me and BJP general secretary Ananth Kumar to Indore two days before the event to
review the security arrangement for the National Executive and
National Council," Naqvi said.

Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is
said to be closely monitoring the security arrangements as BJP
leaders will stay in tents along the Agra-Mumbai Highway in
Indore during the three day meet beginning Wednesday.

"Over two dozen watch towers have been put up at the conclave venue. All nooks and corners will be under watch alsothrough CCTVs," Naqvi said.
