BJP today held state-wide protests to oppose the demand for clemency for Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru.

Led by state BJP Chief Shamsher Singh Manhas, a protest march was taken out in Jammu by party activists who raised slogans against any move to bring a resolution on clemency to Guru in J&K Legislative Assembly.

Protests were also held in seventeen district headquarters in the state over the "delay" in carrying out the sentence of Afzal Guru.

"By allowing the resolution on Guru, the true ideology of the government stands exposed," Manhas told reporters here.

"Legal propriety warrants that no comment or any action is taken which impinges on the correctness of the final judicial pronouncement by the apex court", he said, adding the government should not give any message to "anti-national elements" that they can get away by indulging in such acts.

Manhas said that country and its people have suffered enormously on account of continuous terrorists attack and showing any mercy on such terrorists will embolden their cohorts across the border.
