The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has come up with a master stroke for the general board meeting of AMC for discussion of budget 2011-12. The ruling party is likely to conduct only a one-day budget meet instead of the traditional two to three days meet. This is seen as an attempt by the ruling party to curb the opposition's voice during the budget meet.
The BJP had postponed the standing committee meeting on Tuesday for some reasons. The standing committee meeting will now be convened on Friday.
The BJP, meanwhile, has put forward the excuse of model code of conduct for calling of today's meeting.
"We postponed the meeting only because the model code of conduct is in place due to the Khadia assembly by-polls,” said Bhupendra Patel, chairman of AMC's standing committee.
