Attacking chief minister Sheila Dikshit for her sharp criticism of Lt governor Tajendra Khanna, the BJP today said it only exemplifies her "arrogance and disappointment with her own government."

Dikshit had accused Khanna of interfering in functioning of the Delhi government.

"The LG is nominated by the prime minister and the home minister. The criticism of the LG by Dikshit is in effect a direct attack on the prime minister and the home minster," senior BJP leader VK Malhotra said.

The leader of opposition said the party has given a notice to the Assembly Secretariat for raising breach of privilege against Dikshit as under the conduct of business of Delhi assembly, no member can speak against the president, any governor or any court of justice.

"It is a contempt of the House," he said.

Malhotra said Dikshit's attack on Khanna "only exemplified her arrogance, frustration and disappointment with her own government."

Dikshit, while replying to a resolution on granting full statehood to Delhi yesterday, attacked Khanna and accused him of undermining the powers of her government and interfering in its functioning.

Angry over Khanna's rejection of Delhi Cabinet's decision on raising circle rates, Dikshit even went on to say that assembly and the city government should be done away with if they are not allowed to function.

Malhotra alleged that Dikshit made the attack on Khanna in an attempt to hide her failure in all the fronts.

He said if Dikshit stops trying to "cover up her failures" and sincerely fight for full statehood for Delhi, then BJP would be willing to support her on it.
